Russell

Russell Brown has been with B.I.D since March 2007 and was born on the Island of Oahu. He is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer Instructor and 100 ton Near Coastal and 100 ton Auxiliary Sail Captain.Russ moved to Toronto, Canada at age seven and first learned to dive at the age of 16 at Fathom Five Underwater Provincial Park in Tobermory, Ontario in 1983. After completing his Ice Diver Certification,Russ moved back to Hawaii in 1990. After working 11-1/2 years in the tourist submarine industry, He now makes diving his full time passion. Having lived in Kona since 2001 Russ has dived all along the Kona Coast. Russ has also dived in Maui, at dozens of the many beautiful dive sites on Oahu and in Niihau-the"forbidden island". He spent all of 2006 in California working as the Scuba Department Head for a major sporting goods chain and as a volunteer dive team member for the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. While in California Russ had the opportunity to dive in the Channel Islands-Anacapa, Catalina Island, Palos Verdes, Laguna Beach, and San Diego-Shipwreck Alley. Russell's creditionals also include a great understanding and knowledge of Hawaii,s marine life. He has completed Emergency Medical Technician and Marine Diesel engine courses and is a certified Red Cross Lifeguard as well as an Enriched Air Diver and Instructor. When not diving, Russ enjoys paddling, hiking, and Mountain Biking.
